WHAT WE DID ?
# YSC built
Swarnim Primary School for a backward Thateng community
# It rebuilt
five school buildings demolished by an earthquake in five village
development communities.
# YSC launched
a hygiene and sanitation programme in various schools across the
district and provide support for some schools to build toilets.
# Generated
funds for improvement of the poor physical facilities of the
government schools.
# Launched
campaigns for semi- skilled farmers animal husbandry and other
income generating activities. It also ran agricultural self- help
programme for farmers.
# YSC built two
kilometers of road using its resources. It helped the local
community in many ways for maintenance of school buildings, trail,
water supply, bridges etc.
# Established a
micro - hydro support unit at the YSC and implemented its scheme
across the district.
# Carried out
plantation programmes in the vicinity of local schools & public
places, and developed community forestry.
# Mobilized its
resources on several occasions for flood affected families and
launched a rehabilitation programme, coordinated with Nepal Red
Cross Society.
# Established a
dried fruit processing centre
External Funding
YSC has been so far working with different donor agencies
in Solukhumbu District like REED BARNA, SOCIAL WELFARE COUNCIL, SPW,
USADP, SPA, USAID, ITDG, CARE
NEPAL, LTI,
ALTERNATIVE ENERGY, CRIPA NEPAL, GLOBAL ACTION NEPAL and
EX-VOLUNTEERS OF SPW for the different community development
activities. YSC has also maintained good relationship with the
different line agencies of HMG.
